About Brad

A lifetime of staying active — and adapting along the way.

I’m Brad Shaw. I’m 62, I’ve spent 24 years coaching skateboarding and surfing, and my approach comes from decades of finding ways to keep moving through changing priorities, changing energy and a changing body.

My background

Activity has changed across my life. Its importance has not.

I’ve stayed active through different stages of life — surfing, skateboarding, snowboarding, mountain biking and running. I’ve also had to adapt after injuries, including a snowboarding injury that left me with a metal plate in my ankle. I understand how important it is to find ways to keep doing the activities you enjoy as your body changes.

I completed the Fitness Leader Education Program in 1998, under the Australian Fitness Accreditation Council.

My aim is to help adults over 50 define a future worth working towards and turn good intentions into practical habits — starting with mindset and consistency, then exercise, stretching, eating well and sleep. The plan should fit your life, not ask your life to fit the plan.

A few milestones

A long connection with skateboarding.

I was the 1986 Australian Skate Out Champion and later served as President of the National Skateboarders Association of Australia. I’m also the founder of Sk8scapes, which designed the Guangzhou skatepark that Guinness World Records lists as the world’s largest.
